Russia’s new vacuum ‘sploder is the Drunken Step-Uncle of All Bombs.
No big thematic post today; I gotta work on some music, my own and otherwise.
But here are a few things to ponder:
If you aren’t feeling the gooey, pulsing divine ache in all things, you’re missing out.
Here in DC, there’s a Metro stop called Shady Grove — everytime I see it, I hum to myself a modified version of a well-known Pavement ditty. You know, "Shady Grove. . . everybody wants one." Well, last weekend, the wife and I were returning from someplace or other, and I actually began singing it out loud. The couple in front of us gave me a weird look and giggled. Up an esclator, and I keep on singing. Again, with the giggles and look. Finally, the woman said something to her mate I that found bizarre: "That’s innappropriate… but funny," she exclaimed in all seriousness.
Inappropriate? Really? I was gonna ask her what she meant, but we had to board the next train.
I wanna see the latest David Cronenberg film, Eastern Promises. The ads make little sense, but I dig Viggo Mortensen‘s new look. A History of Violence was decent enough, but I miss the days when Cronenberg "character development" consisted of vaginas turning into VCRs.
There a pretty cool homeless newspaper here in town, meaning it’s produced by and for street folk. I kind of want to work for them. But would I have to give up my pad? On the plus side, my business cards could read, "Casey Rae-Hunter: Homeless Editor."
Only a couple of weeks until the First Annual Contrarian Media Summit. That’s when the newly-formed Big Apple Branch comes down to Chocolate City HQ to go over, well, stuff. NYC Contributor James P. Caldwell has been doing deep field work of late, hence the lack of posts. I am not looking forward to going over his reciepts, let me tell you. I am excited to finally meet Juan and Angel, though.
I’m getting my own personalized tour of the Washngton City Paper offices on Monday. Nice of them to show me around.
If you’re not willing to give up meat to save the environment, could you at least consider scaling down?
ProgBlog update and picture posts over the weekend.
