Since I can’t seem to find anything original to blog about, I’ll hijack a post from Boing Boing featuring clips from the early ’60s docudrama "One Step Beyond." The episode(s) below concern psychedelic mushrooms and extra-sensory perception. Or as my high-school associates would call it, "trippin’ balls, dude." But remember, kids — there’s a fine line between ESP and staring into the gaping maw of the Void.
Professor Smith, a totally kooky science nerd from the Old School, puts it thusly:
"The more I experience of life in its ordinary and extraordinary aspects, the more I feel like a wide-eyed child, reaching for knowledge and life. As for the mushroom, it took me out into worlds I didn’t believe existed — far beyond ordinary perception. And yet, even today, they’re as real and important to my ordinary life as anything I’ve ever experienced."
Hopefully these clips will inspire comments from our Amsterdam correspondent, who is something of a psilocybin expert. What say you, Jebson?
