Lifted wholesale from the Mighty Andrew Sullivan:
It’s very important for people to realize that the McCain-Palin ticket is explicitly running on war against Iran. If McCain-Palin is elected, there will be war. If Obama-Biden is elected, there is a tiny chance there won’t be. In terms of the future, this is the critical issue to be decided.
She and/or McCain will launch a pre-emptive strike on Iran. This much we know. It isn’t a matter of if but when. For McCain, it is a matter of fighting wars to win, instead of accepting any limits on American power. For Palin, it is a matter of theological destiny. For Americans, it may be a decision about whether America will start a Third World War or try to prevent it.
So, in addition to our current financial meltdown, the effects of which we’ll be feeling for years to come, there’s the threat of war across multiple theaters. Hey, that’ll get the economy pumpin’ again, right?
My fear is that if Barry is elected, he’ll inherit a series of quandaries so enormous they’re beyond any single administration’s ability to fix. And if he’s not perceived as having made significant headway in solving these problems, the Right will produce a candidate in 2012 that’ll make Dick Cheney look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy. (Well, he kind of does already, but you get the point.)
So this is the option here. A vote for McCain-Palin is a vote for WWIII. Please choose wisely.
