From now until Election Day, The Contrarian will publish the Soundbite of the Day: a short, easy-to-digest message that we believe Barack Obama could effectively use on the stump.
The point is to reclaim the news cycle from the GOP stunt-pullers, and help Americans better connect with Obama’s positions. Here’s today’s installment:
"You know, the Republicans will do almost anything to make this
election be about anything but the issues. But you know as well as I
that the issues have never been more important. Is it really about who Americans would most like to have a beer with? Because I’ll tell
you this: Senator McCain does not want to have a beer with you. Governor
Palin does not want to have a beer with you. I’d LOVE to have a beer
with you, provided we can talk a little bit about the actual issues while we do it."
Again, the Obama campaign is welcome to any of these, if it helps us win the White House.
UPDATE: This is fine, too.
