I was hoping to print a post-election retraction to my previous rant about West Virginia's inherent racism, but I'm not so sure if that will happen. (I might downgrade them to old-fashioned xenophobia, however.) Although some reports have the state in play, this article in the Washington Post is packed with anecdotal evidence to the contrary.

I think that, as a condition of losing, John McCain and Sarah Palin should be forced to live together in a trailer in West Virginia for one year. Their experiences would be filmed for a reality TV show, revenue from which can be deposited directly into the U.S. Treasury.
