The other night, prior to our drunken liveblogging, we were speculating about whether McCain would bring up Bill Ayers in the debate. The conventional wisdom (which turned out to be correct) was that there was no way Johnboy would go there on national television. I argued that if he didn’t, he would hand Obama a "he couldn’t say it to my face" line. As it turns out, the very next night, in an interview with ABC’s Charlie Gibson, Barry said exactly that.
"Well, I am surprised that, you know, we’ve been seeing some pretty
over-the-top attacks coming out of the McCain campaign over the last
several days that he wasn’t willing to say it to my face."
I can almost hear the crowd of high schoolers gathered around all going "Ooooooooh" in unison.
Oh, and he also directly addresses this Ayers nonsense too.
