Last night at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner the candidates took a few minutes to make jokes at each others’ expense. It’s tradition during an election year that the two people running for President get up and take time away from the acrimony and roast each other. I have to say, both candidates were pretty funny and that McCain probably did a better job. Here are the clips:
A side note: this tradition was cancelled last time around. The Catholic Church had a problem with John Kerry’s abortion views so he was uninvited in 2004. Seeing that it would be awkward if they just had Bush up there making jokes at Kerry’s expense, the diocese didn’t invite Bush either.
