Not long ago we put out a call for new contributors. Feedback has been decent, but we're hoping to snag just the right persons. Read on for the details:
The Contrarian is looking for a writer (or two) to help us maintain productivity beyond the current election cycle. While we're not necessarily a political blog, a grasp of current events, media and progressive issues is very helpful. A love of good music, Liberty and fine food/booze wouldn't hurt, either. Futurists, philosophers, technologists, comedians and Buddhists are particularly attractive. (Sexy, even!)
Basically, we're looking for a sharp and savvy scribe with an excellent sense of humor and strong editorial voice. We purport to cover music, media and metaphysics, so any and all of that is fair game. We've always aimed to present our viewpoints with clarity and wit; as long as you can keep up with this tradition, you'll have plenty of options. Most importantly, you must be a decent writer, with insight and attention to detail.
Now for the bulletpoints.
We'd love it if you were in a major media market (or close to some kind of action). If you can see Russia from your doorstep, thanks but no thanks. Oh, and it's kind of a sausage party 'round here, so females are definitely encouraged to apply.
What's in it for you?
Certainly not any money. At least not yet. We can promise you a growing, devoted readership and the opportunity to ruin your chance of future employment with the GOP. That and the occasional flame war with label owners, right-wing nuts and conspiracy theorists.
Sound like you? Send a short 'sup and a couple samples of your writing to:
