In the van back to DC. Can’t wait to get home, but I have some audio work to do before I can rest.
Tonight’s the debate, which we’ll once again be liveblogging with the gang. The polls have certainly been encouraging; things are starting to solidify, but there will probably be some tightening as we get closer to E-day. Let’s not forget the opposition is out there terror/race baiting, inspiring the xenophobic "base" to yell shit like "kill him!" at campaign stops. (One can only assume this isn’t a sports-derived metaphor.)
Meanwhile, Palin/McCain keep the press at bay, not even letting members of the media talk to their supporters, who in turn have been known to hurl epithets at anyone who looks like a reporter. Remind me: is this Russia or America?
It shocks me (although I suppose it shouldn’t) that a major American political party would embrace fascist tactics of fear, secrecy and propaganda while simultaneously encouraging the basest and most vile of human behavior at their rallies.
At least Nazi Germany had a working economy.
