George W. Bush was spotted gulping down a Pisco Sour (ingredients: Peruvian brandy, lemon juice, egg whites, simple syrup and regional bitters) at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit last Saturday. Here's the report from a local newspaper.
Peru, of course, is a notable exporter of another one of Dubya's former indulgences. There's a Steely Dan lyric in here somewhere. "The Pisco's cold / The fine Peruvian / Make tonight a wonderful thing."
As the President of the United States, one assumes Georgie could have insisted on a non-alcoholic Pisco Sour. But I prefer to think he's back on the sauce, ready to mix it up with the local talent.
With approval ratings like his, who wouldn't be tempted to drown one's sorrows?
