DC's Community Powered Radio Project is hosting a Low Power FM (LPFM) event tonight at the Black Cat. The evening will feature an 8PM screening of the award-winning documentary Pirate Radio USA, followed by a panel discussion that will allow the audience to interact with some of the nation's leading LPFM advocates. Apparently I'm one of them?
If you're in the District area, come by to learn about LPFM issues and how you can support the expansion and protection of community radio. It's only five beans!
Here's the roster:
Andy Gunn, Technical and Training Organizer, Prometheus Radio Project
Casey Rae-Hunter, Communications Director, Future of Music Coalition
Jared Ball, Assistant Professor of Communications Studies at Morgan State University and Creator of "FreeMix Radio: The People's Mixtape"
Ryme Katkhouda, Founder, People's MEDIA Café and Co-founder, DC Radio Coop
In early December, I'm giving a presentation on new music models at the University of Maryland. The following week, I'm doing the same show at the Foundation for Jewish Culture's Jewish Music Retreat in Mohonk, NY. I think Tzadik is gonna be there!
In other Hebraic news, "accidentally" watched You Don't Mess With the Zohan this weekend. I totally wish I was of the tribe.
