It’s a new year, so I figured it was a good time to introduce The Contrarian’s roster of contributors, rabble-rousers and miscreants. I’m delighted to have them aboard. (Order does not connote hierarchy; you can check out everyone’s bios here.)
That’s me. The less you know the better.
James P. Caldwell
James is a brilliant and hilarious individual. He used to be my roommate (and drummer). Good guy. Join me in pressuring him to post more!
MFK is an old friend and political junkie. We used to be in a band together, back in the day. He talked me down many times over this last electoral cycle, and contributes a great deal to our political coverage. Hopefully he can find something to be pissed off about with the incoming administration.
This guy goes off the grid for extended periods of time; in fact, I have no idea where he is right now. He formerly reported from Amsterdam, where he studied the Western Hermetic Tradition at some freaky-ass Netherlands university. I hope he gets in touch soon, because I miss his offbeat ramblings.
Bill has the kind of mind I truly admire. He’s honest, intelligent and insightful, with a no-bullshit attitude and a dry ‘n’ wry sense of humor. He’s got his own excellent blog, but we’re thrilled to have him contributing here, too.
Jay’s a newer contributor, and we look forward to hearing more from him. Jay’s got a nice black sense of humor, and he has a lot to say about music, film and the repellent aspects of American culture. Please join me in welcoming him.
Ethan is an old and dear friend with a voracious appetite for all manner of out sounds. Ethan is an excellent music writer, and is also quite the photographer. I just wish the lazy sod would post more.
Yes, Wes is Ethan’s brother. He’s a fascinating fella who wanders the far edges of reality, bringing back aural shards and cryptic wisdom. I’m pretty much handing over Esoteric Research department over to him. Can’t wait to see what he does with it.
Tanner is responsible for our recent redesign. He’s also one of the geniuses behind the experimental label/web hub Aether Everywhere (which also incudes Jay). He’s welcome to post his many interesting thoughts here, but he’d no doubt feel constrained by our grammatical conventions. Friggin’ beatnik.
Molly is the endlessly fascinating proprietress of the Undead Molly blog. Since I don’t want to take away from anything she does over there, Molly is basically contracted to reproduce her Weekly Occult Round-Up series here at The Contrarian. Of course, our door is always open for her. Lord knows, we could use more unflinching analysis of deviant sexual practices up in this piece.
Gregory Giordano (aka flameape)
Gregory is one of the finest artist/illustrators around. He really gets the whole concept of leveraging the talents of your gifted friends in order to build a stronger set of individual and group brands. That’s why I couldn’t turn down his offer to be The Contrarian’s Artist In Residence. You can look forward to his visual contributions starting, um, soon. In the meantime, you can check out some of his work here and here.
[Have you taken The Contrarian Poll? Surely you can spare two minutes.]
