Steve Jobs is taking a “leave of abscence” from Apple to deal with ongoing health issues. In 2003, Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which typically carries a life expectancy of about a year. He claims to have beaten it, but recent photos showing considerable weight loss have suggested otherwise. The official reason for Jobs’ gaunt appearance is a hormonal imbalance, but it’s really anybody’s guess.
Whenever Steve so much as sneezes, it affects Apple stock. The company has been branded “rescession-proof,” but it remains to be seen what effect today’s anouncement will have on shares.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
