Case in point: Indie torch-songsters Antony & the Johnsons‘ third album The Crying Light topped the European pop chart, grabbed the silver in Spain and Sweden, bronze in Denmark, #4 in France, Holland and Norway, #9 in Italy and #18 in the UK.
In the States the album debuted at number 65 on The Billboard 200, selling a respectable but less-than-stunning 7,837 copies.
Frontwoman Taylor Swift, the country-popping teenybopper, held onto the pole position, shifting just under a gajillion units.
