Some of you may remember my post from a few days about about Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne‘s very public tirade against hedge funder-turned cable blowhard Jim Cramer. (That entry really drew the hits; maybe we should cover high finance in-fighting more often.)
Well, according to an earlier post on NowPublic, Byrne was slated to appear on tonight’s “Daily Show,” which would’ve provided a nice bookend to Cramer’s own pop-by last week. Sadly, Byrne’s moment with Jon Stewart was never officially confirmed. (The show has already been taped; surely someone on ye olde webernets can fill us in?)
Byrne has earned himself something of a reputation as a wingnut, at least as far as his economics opinions are concerned. But calling Cramer a “criminal” in the Overstock customer newsletter does seem a bit over-the-top. Yet I wonder if I wouldn’t have done the same thing. I mean, you’ve got a platform — why keep it to yourself? Lord knows, I give Comcast a public drubbing every chance I get.
This financial meltdown stuff may be scary, but you can’t say it’s not entertaining.
