I’m heading to a leadership retreat from Sept. 13-16 (I’m a leader, woo-hoo! Six Sigma all the way!). This means I’ll probably not be checking in ’til Thursday night at the earliest. But there are some exciting things on the horizon, a couple of which I can only hint at. Here they be:
1. The Contrarian/Sentient Developments crossover! I’m thrilled that George Dvorsky — who has been something of an intellectual hero over the last few years, and whom now I’m proud to call a friend — has invited me to post at his future-forward blog, Sentient Developments, through the month of October. I’ll be writing mostly about neurodiversity (once I figure out what that means. . . kidding. . . sort of). I’m no scientist, but I am my own guinea pig, so this should be pretty awesome. Stay tuned.
2. The Contrarian: Eldritch Musicks. This new, 9-song album is almost finished. In addition to a digital release at all the groovy online shops, I’ll also be putting out a limited-edition CD. Eldritch Musicks takes it cues from the weird fiction of the early 20th century, and the occult tomfoolery that danced on the periphery of pre-World War culture. But it’s not “retro” or “indie” or anything. I call it “haunt-rock.” Basically, I took the Sandy Pearlman challenge: no one in the last couple of decades has written and recorded a legitimate record that deals with the Mythos. Well, here ya go, Sandy!
3. A new offshoot of the Contrarian Media empire. I can tell you no more at this time. It’s gonna be a pretty big reveal, and I need to make sure it’s handled properly. Those of you who have been paying attention are probably aware of the “soft launch.” Keep your eyes on this page for more. . .
So that’s about it. before I vamoose, I’m hoping to fire off a post about the atrocious smear campaign being conducted by Glenn Beck. At this point, it’s starting to hit a bit close to home. In the meantime, I encourage you to read these items from my associates Art Brodsky and Harold Feld — brilliant men, both.
And thanks, as always, to all of our fine contributors.
