Let’s not belittle the little people here. It’s a well known fact that Leprechauns can actually entirely deflect electromagnetic radiation (a la the visible spectrum) in order to become invisible for short periods of time. They can do it to their pots of gold to, with the unfortunate exception that this will cause the gold to act like a massive prism that makes rainbows. Duh.

The other matter of validity that needs to be discussed with regards to “ghosts” is how some sort of psuedo or semi-conscious thing can exist only within an electromagnetic field or other standard particles. I work in cognitive science where it is taken for granted that the mind is what the brain does. It is not incorporeal, it is physical. When you remove a part of someone’s brain, they stop doing some particular function or even consciously recognizing some part of their environment. When the brain stops working, the mind goes away. Cockroaches have brains, you know. They’re small by comparison to us, but they are vast structures comprised of nearly 1,000,000 neurons. Why are there not cockroach ghosts?

Unfortunately, I already know the answer I’ll get from a majority of people: cockroaches aren’t *conscious*, which again, to someone in the cognitive sciences, is roughly akin to saying cockroaches aren’t *magic*. At some point you have to recognize that in a physical and deterministic universe, your consciousness arises from a physical system. It doesn’t go off on it’s own, it doesn’t exist without your body. There is an underlying premise to the detection of ghosts with EMF readers and that is that consciousness can exist without a body and a brain. Prove that first, then show me EMF readings of “ghosts.”
