It’s Halloween, so I figured I might as well share with you the scariest thing I’ve seen in quite some time. This Glenn Beck clip is as asinine as any others I’ve watched, but made all the more disturbing due to the fact that his “bad revolutionaries” chart singles out several colleagues. Sigh. I hope to make Glenn’s widdle blackboard someday. . .
As usual, everything he says is flat out wrong. The media is not, nor is it likely to ever be, controlled by the government. It IS, however, currently controlled by a small handful of corporations that, due to mismanagement, consolidation and overleveraging, are finding it difficult to navigate in the new marketplace. Sadly, it’s not the shareholders or Mr. Beck who suffer — it’s reporters and the public. A free and independent media (including a neutral internet) is the most democratic, American thing in the world. Why does Glenn Beck oppose it so?
Because being un-American pays rather handsomely.
Speaking of “the tubes,” if you’ve ever wondered about this “net neutrality” business that us flaming Maoists are always on about, have a look at this handy graphic that shows what a non-neutral internet would look like. Then go pester your congresspersons to keep the web what it always has been: an open platform for innovation, entrepreneurship, commerce, creativity and free speech.
