It’s been a busy political season here in DC (when isn’t it?), and the last several weeks have required an “all-hands-on-deck” approach to issues messaging. It doesn’t seem like things will slow down anytime soon, but I think I’ve got the balance pretty well figured out. Thanks to all of our ace contributors for holding down the fort!
As much as I’d like to kvetch about the ineptitude of the Executive branch to pass its singular initiative and/or comprehend the forces by which it was elected, I’m going to punt for the moment.
Likewise, I’ll skip the painful dissection of the Martha Coakley campaign, or rather, I’ll leave it to our Political Outrage Correspondent, who happens to be a Masshole, and therefore an expert.
I will, however, tell you about some sensational developments in the world of The Contrarian, musical artist. Because I never tire of itemizing my paltry achievements.
My latest release, Eldritch Musicks, has been making major waves in the global “weird media” community. Yes, there is one. Suffice it to say, I’m thrilled and stunned at the response.
Check out this stellar notice at Grim Reviews — a site dedicated to all manner of Fortean oddities. Fuck, maybe I’ll send a record to Pitchfork.
Then there’s this in-depth interview with yours truly at Lovecraft News Network. There’s at least a couple more of these in the pipeline.
Lost Carcosa made a quick mention as well.
And my album-related short story, “The Cove,” has been picked up by a gin-u-wine anthology, Fantastic Horror, which I think is super-nifty. You can listen to a podcast reading here.
Of course, I’d be delighted to have you as a Facebook fan or Twitter follower. All the cool kids are doing it.
I’m currently working on a new record. Which actually may end up as a graphic novel with a CD in it. The concept is in place; the execution is still a bit fuzzy. One thing’s for sure — it’s definitely got a sexy vibe, even if it is about Control vs. Liberation, Urizen vs. Los, Gnosis vs. Anti-Gnosis. God, crack a book or something. I don’t have time to explain it!
Oh, and here’s a handful of videos I made for Eldritch. If you like ‘em, please subscribe to The Contrarian’s YouTube channel. More on the way, depending on sleep requirements.
“Dweller on the Threshold”
“Sunken City”
“The Cove”
“Crimson Village”
“Dusk Latitudes”

Casey, when can we expect a rock opera based on Bulwer-Lytton’s “Zanoni?”

How about a jingle based on the National Treasure movies?

That’s actually full-concept album material. Maybe we can get Cage to narrate — I hear he needs the dough!
