Moonlighting in Vermont

Posted by: Casey Rae-Hunter    Tags:  Burlington, Music Business, Pure Pop Records, Welcome to the Terrordome    Posted date:  February 25, 2010  |  No comment

Work has been rather busy since the last. . . well, since I can remember. Still, I’ve somehow found time in the wee hours to moonlight. Interestingly it’s at one of my old places of employ, the storied Pure Pop Records in Burlington, Vermont. Don’t worry, I’m not back behind the counter sneering at customers. I’ve been doing a series of music biz posts called “Welcome to the Terrordome” at the PP website.

We don’t usually take tours of the sausage factory here at The Contrarian, partly because I get my fill of music industry mania at my day job. But I figured these news roundups — complete with color commentary — might be interesting to a few of you.

I’ve posted two entries so far:

Welcome to the Terrordome I

Welcome to the Terrordome II

You might as well bookmark the site and/or add it to your RSS reader, ’cause there’s a lot of other great content, too. The best indie record stores have, um, personality, and Pure Pop is no exception. Someday I’ll make it back to Burlington and give the staff noogies.

As you were.

Keep it Like a Secret.
Built to Spill are a fine band; most music fans can agree on that. Even a handful of clued-in hippies dig 'em. I don't listen to BTS often, but for some reason I had the urge to play their 1999 classic Keep it Like a Secret...
