“I read it for the articles.”

That was the line heterosexual men used back in the day to justify their perusing Playboy. Not sure that any of these rags would live up to that standard, although I’m sure somebody skimmed “Astrology and Your Love Life” after closely inspecting the “Woman Leopard Trainer” spread.

I read Tumblr for the pictures, which is where I’ve encountered a lot of sensational covers from magazines of yesteryear. Which is why I was amused when I friend of mine sent me a link to a site collecting a bunch of “Satanic” men’s publications from the 1960s and ’70s.

Sure, they’re sexist. And probably NSFW. But that’s what I’ve got to amuse you on Valentine’s Day in this, the far more politically correct year of 2013.
